Child protection information
Háttér Soiciety is committed to protecting children in all areas of its work. In accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (proclaimed in Hungary by Act LXIV of 1991), we consider everyone under the age of 18 to be a child.
Our association assumes responsibility for the protection of children who have any kind of legal relationship with the organization, especially those who come into contact with us through the use of our services or attending our events.
The purpose of our child protection policy is to ensure the well-being and safety of children who come into contact with us, and to exclude the possibility of causing them harm in the course of our operations. The scope of the policy extends to all members, employees, contractors, volunteers and officials of the association (hereinafter referred to as employees) in connection with the activities of our association, and compliance with and enforcement of it is mandatory for all employees. With regard to events organized by the association, the scope of the regulations also extends to the organization's present donors, invited guests or other contributors (e.g. speakers) invited on an ad hoc basis.
We ensure the well-being of children who turn to our services and participate in our research, training or community and cultural events by taking the following specific steps:
- we prepare our employees for the specifics of working with children;
- when abuse is detected, we act in accordance with the protocols in force in order to prevent and eliminate further vulnerability of the child;
- we inform the child about their rights, the available legal remedies, and in the event of a violation of their rights, we provide a safe route for reporting the violation of rights committed against them;
- we assess whether the involvement of their parents or legal representative poses a risk for the minors who turn to us; if not, we also involve the parents/legal representative in solving their problems; if yes, we do not do this;
- we act in the best interests of the child in everything.
