HIV Peer Service
The HIV Peer Service is available since the 1st of February 2020 to anyone who lives in Hungary and would like to receive personal, free of charge support in any of the topics below. Our volunteer peers include people living with HIV and HIV-negative people, women and men, gay and heterosexual people alike.
1. Accompanying to HIV testing
Everybody is welcome who would like to get tested but doesn’t want to do it alone.
After we meet at the pre-arranged date and location you will be accompanied to the agreed testing pont and we’ll help you with your concerns and questions until the result comes in (on the spot or later).
2. Accompanying to receive medical care
The drug therapy reduces the virus to undetectable level, so your immune system remains healthy and you are incapable of transmitting the virus!
Everybody is welcome who doesn’t want to be alone during the receiving of medical care after receiving a positive result.
After we meet at the pre-arranged date you will be accompanied to the applicable medical centre and we’ll help you with your concerns and questions.
3. Support conversation(s)
Everybody is welcome who would like to get help with their questions after receiving a positive result.
We offer help with personal discussions, 1-3 occasions, 90 minutes/meeting.
ATTENTION! Due to the pandemic we hold meetings with our clients only via Skype or other online communication channels, if they wish. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
