Stand up for your rights, stand up for the community!
Between August 2023 and July 2025 we are implementing the project Stand up for your rights, stand up for the community! Advocating for the fundamental rights of LGBTQI people through strategic litigation and legal awareness raising.
The main objective of the project is to strengthen and enforce the protection of human rights contained in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union in respect to LGBTQI people in Hungary. Furthermore, the project aims to strengthen the legal awareness and improve the access to justice of LGBTQI people living outside of Budapest, and increase the number of competent lawyers committed to the protection of LGBTQI rights.
In the framework of the project, we implement the following activities:
- strategic litigation and international advocacy against restrictive and discriminative laws and practices
- establishment of a national network of attorneys, offering them accredited training courses and professional advice
- legal knowledge base and legal handbook for lawyers
- trainings, financial and professional support for LGBTQI groups outside the capital
- renewal of platforms for reporting human rights violations
- campaign to promote our legal awareness-raising publications
The project is funded by the European Union's Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme. The European Commission's support does not imply any endorsement of the content of the activities carried out under this project, which reflects the views only of the project promoters, and the Commission cannot be held responsible for any use which may be made of the information contained therein.
