Personal counselling
At Háttér Personal Counselling Service, we welcome applications from LGBTQI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex) individuals and others with diverse sexual and gender identities who wish to receive free support in the following areas:
- self-acceptance (gender identity and sexual orientation),
- life management,
- mental well-being,
- forming relationships,
- conflict resolution,
- romantic relationships,
- stress management,
- coming out,
- and other emotional difficulties primarily related to the LGBTQI focus of the Service.
At the Personal Counselling Service, volunteer counsellors with several years of experience in mental health and LGBTQI-specific issues provide supportive conversations. Our team has completed comprehensive training on the field and provides the service under regular supervision.
The 50-minute sessions take place once a week over a period of 10–12 weeks.
Supportive conversations are available to any LGBTQI person, or anyone seeking help related to these issues, who is at least 18 years old. English sessions can only be provided for those temporarily or permanently residing in Hungary. APPLY HERE: Please fill out this form.
These sessions are self-awareness-focused supportive conversations and are not therapeutic in nature. Therefore, they do not replace diagnosis or treatment by a psychiatrist, clinical psychologist, or psychotherapist. If you are currently in psychotherapy or have been under psychiatric care in the past six months, please consult your therapist or psychiatrist before signing up for this service.
