Projects aimed at increasing the rights awareness of LGBTQI people and the sensitivity and professional competence of legal practitioners
Between July 3, 2024 and December 31, 2024 the Legal Program of Háttér Society implements a project titled Paving the Way Ahead: Building Support for LGBTQI Human Rights in Hungary with the support of the Foreign Ministry of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Between June 2024 and May 2025 Háttér Society’s Legal Program implements a project with the support of Digital Freedom Fund aimed at mapping the prevalence of censoring LGBTQI online content in Hungarian public spaces. The research is meant to underpin future litigation before domestic and European courts.
Between March 2024 and February 2026 we are implementing a research, capacity-building and awareness raising project titled Enhancing the capacity of civil society organizations to support victims of anti-LGBTQI hate crimes.
From April 2024 to September 2025 we are participating in an international research and awareness raising project entitled Strengthening the rights of LGBTIQ detainees in the EU.
Between August 2023 and July 2025 we are implementing the project Stand up for your rights, stand up for the community! Advocating for the fundamental rights of LGBTQI people through strategic litigation and legal awareness raising.
Running from January 2023 to December 2024, the project focuses on the continuous monitoring and reporting of online hate speech to social media platforms
Between May 2022 and April 2024, we implement a research, training and awareness-raising project entitled Counter-Hate: Improving the assistance of victims of hate crimes through a victim-centered and intersectional approach.
The aim of the project is to enforce the equality principle regarding sexual orientation and gender identity, with a focus on employment discrimination, access to goods and services, the recognition and protection of the family life of LGBTI EU citizens with regards to their freedom of movement, combating hate speech and hate crimes, and ensuring rights for LGBTI victims of violence.
Ongoing research, training and awareness raising project on anti-LGBT hate speech and hate crime.
From January 2018 to December 2019, the project was implemented to raise awareness of anti-LGBT hate crime among the general public and within the LGBT communities, emphasize the need to report, and empower victims.
From November 2016 to November 2018, we implemented the "Come Forward: Empowering and Supporting Victims of Anti-LGBT Hate Crimes" project.
Project entitled UNI-FORM: bringing together NGOs and Security Forces to tackle hate crime and on-line hate speech against LGBT persons implemented between November 2015 and November 2017 with funding from the Fundamental Rights and Citizenship Programme of the European Commission.
The project implemented between March 2015 and April 2016 aims to increase the legal awareness of the LGBTQI community and the LGBTQI sensitivity of lawyers.
